Perception is Key / Grateful

Hello Dear Reader,

I hope this month's edition of the Black Birdseye View finds you well and in good spirits. I am well. Holidays provide a valuable opportunity for reflection and gratitude. It's a time to acknowledge the good in our lives, the lessons learned, and the growth we've experienced. It's also a chance to appreciate the people around us, the moments of joy and challenge, and the small wonders of life.

During the holidays, I sometimes feel a touch of melancholy. It's not overwhelming, but enough to serve as a reminder of lingering sorrows. Yet, instead of succumbing to these blues, I actively embrace each day and ensure it is as uplifting as possible. This mindset is what separates a state of despair from one of serenity. Ultimately, our power lies in how long we dwell on particular thoughts.

Perception is key. How we view our lives depends on the lens through which we choose to see them. If our disposition caters to pity parties, we'll concentrate on regret. If we focus on triumph, success becomes visible. The challenge often lies in our tendency to look through distorted lenses. Recognize and rectify this. Be aware of negative thought patterns and behaviors and alter them for your betterment—one step at a time. As you grow in self-love, you'll start to mirror and attract what you indeed are.

Move through your storm. Don't stand still and re-collect memories. Get busy. Move something. Concentrate on something new and improved. The time you take standing still stewing is the time you could take to build your mental, spiritual, professional, artistic, strong, and loving self. Nine times out of ten, you will feel better if you take yourself away from the funk you are in. You will feel empowered because you took the steps to consciously not fall into a pattern that only serves to start over and over again, never moving you past painful moments.

Remember to keep going. I must be conscious that sometimes my energy shifts; all it wants to be is invisible. In these times, I remember that the moment I stop, everything stops. Like every other time, the time will pass, and I find myself playing catch-up when I could have been ahead if I had just kept going.

Don't allow quiet moments to breed negative thoughts. Thoughts hold immense power. Speak positivity in yourself, your actions, and everyone and everything around you. Be a beacon of light. Shine so brilliantly that it overshadows any triggers of sadness. Even when it feels difficult, persist. The alternative only serves those who prefer self-pity over constructive advice.

Evaluate your social circle. Are the people in it thriving or just surviving? Choose to be around people who uplift you and strive for their own betterment. If your circle shares similar struggles, consider joining a support group centered around positive thinking. You'd be amazed at how a shift in perspective can transform your life.

Looking at me getting all off tas :) This month, I I'm reflecting on gratitude. In the hustle and bustle of mundane sameness, it's easy to overlook the simple things, but taking a moment to pause and reflect can be incredibly rewarding. It can help us understand our journeys and the many ways we are interconnected with others. This type of introspection should not be limited to one day. It is important to pause, notice, and be thankful for even the smallest things.
