Hello Faithful Reader,
I hope this month's edition of the Black Birdseye View finds you well and in good spirits. This month, I am sharing the start of a novel I started months ago. It's my take on futuristic /sci-fi writing 😊
In 2176, the city of Lumos thrived beneath a luminescent dome that shimmered like a cosmic rainbow, protecting its inhabitants from the harshness of an unforgiving world outside. Towering skyscrapers, adorned with neon lights and holographic projections, stretched into the heavens, their shapes inspired by ancient Black symbols, celebrating a culture that had evolved and soared beyond time.
Within this glowing metropolis, where technology and spirituality danced harmoniously, a young visionary named Sayonce had a recurring dream. This vision seemed to be more than mere imagination. In her sleep, she witnessed the echoes of her ancestors, a sacred lineage of powerful beings who had once walked the earth with cosmic knowledge and the gift to shape destiny itself.
But Sayonce lived in an age of both wonder and uncertainty. Although Lumos represented a beacon of progress, not everyone shared its splendor. The disparity between the elite and the marginalized had grown like a gnarling vine beneath the city's facade, threatening to choke the essence of its potential unity.
Sayonce, with her bright eyes shimmering like the stars above, yearned to bridge this divide. She had inherited the spirit of her ancestors, a spirit that thrummed with an energy that transcended time and space. Deep within her, she knew she held the key to awakening Lumos to its true purpose. This purpose extended beyond technological marvels and into the realm of spiritual enlightenment.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the dome glowed with celestial light, Sayonce decided to venture into the archives deep within Lumos's central hub. Rumors whispered about an ancient manuscript that contained the universe's secrets, and Sayonce believed it could hold the key to uniting her city.
With each step, she could feel the heartbeat of Lumos echoing through the gleaming corridors. A holographic guardian emerged as she approached the archives' vault, challenging her with riddles and tests. Sayonce answered with wisdom that transcended the centuries, proving her worthiness to enter.
Inside, she found the manuscript, its pages glowing like embers of forgotten wisdom. As she read the script, her mind was flooded with images of forgotten lands, elders who danced with the cosmos, and a unified world where technology and ancient wisdom coexisted in perfect harmony.
With newfound purpose and determination, Sayonce embarked on a quest to unravel the ancient mysteries in the manuscript's pages. Along the way, she would encounter friends and foes, navigating a path filled with challenges and revelations. Little did she know that her journey would shape not only Lumos's destiny but the entire universe's fate.
Thus, the spark of an extraordinary adventure ignited within Sayonce, and the realm of Lumos braced itself for a transformation that would transcend time, space, and the very essence of Black futuristic wonder.
As Sayonce delved deeper into the secrets of the ancient manuscript, she discovered the existence of a long-lost artifact known as the "Sankofa Crystal and the Ring." Legends spoke of their ability to bridge the gap between past and future, awakening the dormant powers of those who possessed it. With a renewed sense of purpose, Sayonce set out to find the elusive artifacts, convinced that they held the key to awakening Lumos and uniting its people.
The Ring was said to give its wearer the powers of invisibility. It could bring all things and consider nothing and everything, with no real way of knowing what not showing would bring. It would entice desires that would be suddenly attainable by ill-gotten means that unstitch seams of privacy. Sayonce thought that taking liberties because they are free could be the key to advancement or the enhancement of a selfish mind that finds victory in deceit. Once adorned with the Ring, there would be no going back to a time that has passed, so she asked, "When would enough be enough?" Sayonce struggled with the concept of having such a powerful artifact. Legends told the tale of those who misused the Ring. In possession of a ring that brought everything the mind imagines, an unsuitable wearer would be powerful and weak. The wants, cravings, and desires that fuel their fire faded in the background of undeserving gifts afforded at the cost of dignity, having been reduced to the title of thief. Having it all, they wanted for nothing and everything, looking forward to nothing because all things were but a mere turn of the Ring away. With nothing to look forward to and being in control of it all, their growth was not stunted because there was no growth at all. Sayonce knew that the most powerful thing about having the Ring was the fact that the Ring canceled out all reflection.
Until next time :)
Always,
Robin
